Kestrel Ridge, the new 57 home development soaring over Upper Mission, Kelowna is already starting to take shape in the beautiful Okanagan Valley. As the first residents of the development are starting getting ready to move into their new homes by year's end, we chatted with Landon Block, Project Manager at Rykon Construction Management, the developers of Kestrel Ridge, to get his unique thoughts on the exciting new development that's taking Kelowna luxury real estate by storm.
Q: With current and past projects spanning the lower mainland, why did Rykon decide that Upper Mission, Kelowna was the next place to start building a luxury development?
A: Rykon Group has worked on projects across the Pacific Northwest since the 80’s. Between the lower mainland, Kelowna, Seattle, and beyond we always look for a development that fits the values of Rykon so we can create a product that is forward thinking, sensitive, and natural for the area that it is in. Kestrel Ridge was the next project that hit all the targets for us.
Q: Is there a specific type of buyer that Kestrel Ridge homes are catered to?
A: Kestrel Ridge is catered to the move down buyer that is ready to leave their large family homes behind for lower maintenance living. The buyer is looking for main floor living, and a home that still gets them the luxuries of a larger place in a smaller footprint.
Q: What makes Kestrel Ride stand apart from other luxury real estate in the bustling Okanagan market?
A: Kestrel Ridge focuses on the buyer and how they live their life. We strive to create a product that flows with the natural rhythm of the homeowner’s daily life. With the move down buyer in mind, we strive to make the transition from a large home to a smaller home as seamless as possible by making use of the space as efficiently as we can so that it does not feel like you have downsized at all.
Q: Kelowna is known for its picturesque natural beauty. Are there any elements of the surrounding Kelowna area that Rykon used to inspire the design of Kestrel Ridge?
A: Kestrel Ridge pulled its design from the natural features of the hillside of Upper Mission. With single loaded roads and natural exterior colours, the development complements the contours of the site.
Q: Briefly, describe the overarching design of Kestrel Ridge.
A: The building design at Kestrel Ridge is a blend of contemporary architectures featuring clean modern living. The architecture focuses on social living, with a bias towards homeowner comforts. The 3 colour schemes and 5 floor plans mean that there is a design and colour to suit any downsizer’s needs.
Q: If you had to choose your favorite design feature of the Kestrel Ridge homes, what would it be?
A: My favourite feature of the architecture would be the picturesque views and socializing-focused living area. With the 14’x10 windows, there are views from every angle within the home as well as a spectacular view facing the kitchen island. No matter where you sit, you can be engaged in the party and enjoy the view. The clerestory windows are also a fantastic feature bringing in light at any time of the day.
Q: What phase of construction is the Kestrel Ridge development currently in?
A: Phase one is nearly sold out with all homes under construction. Phase two lots are completed and we hope to be starting the first home construction by the end of the year.
